MovingWaldo's review of A Mile Above Moving Services in Ottawa

This has been one of the worst experiences ever and it cost me almost 3 times the amount of the estimate. I could have moved everything alone in less time. I was in touch with MovingWaldo, as well as the manager of the moving company, throughout the process to express this fact, had been told that I would be contacted by the manager again today, only to find that most of my first months rent had been charged to my Visa debit. Now I will likely have the lease revoked.

Prior to hiring A Mile Above Moving, I considered renting a truck and doing it myself like I had in the past. Then I remembered the week of muscle soreness that followed. Sure, I probably still could’ve fought off a bear if necessary, but why risk the extra scratches? More importantly, I didn’t feel like recruiting friends and family again. I’m a man whose muscles are used to fight off attacking bears all the time (bears have beef with me, don’t ask questions 😂), so I decided I was taking the professional option this time. As a first-time customer of professional movers, I got several quotes. Some companies had confusing communication, questionable pricing, or both. A Mile Above stood out immediately from the rest. Their Operations Manager asked all the right questions about my home, belongings, and destinations, had me send photos, provided a clear estimate, and stayed in touch leading up to moving day. The three-person crew arrived early, assessed everything quickly, and got to work. They were efficient, professional, friendly, and clearly took pride in what they were doing. I liked that they were all in company uniform too, which always looks professional. I pointed out a few fragile and valuable items, and they handled everything with great care. If they stopped moving, it was only to ask my input on a particular item, and then it was back at it. After the nearly three-hour drive to my new home, they unloaded everything into the correct rooms, removed my front door when my couch demanded it, helped set up my bed, and even arranged my furniture exactly according to the little floor plan I’d drawn. It was obvious they were tired, but they stayed upbeat and professional until the last item was in place. For contrast, another mover I had contacted six weeks earlier (and never hired) messaged me the night before my move asking if I was ready because they’d apparently booked a truck—despite not knowing my address, what I was moving, or even whether I’d hired them. That experience made me appreciate A Mile Above’s professionalism even more. If you want movers who communicate well, work hard, and treat your belongings with care, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend A Mile Above Moving. 5 Stars.

Debo and his team were fantastic to work with. Lilly was quick to respond in the initial stages, and made the quote process a breeze. On moving day, Denzel, Kennedy, and John were equally great. As with all of my items, many of which required special care, they took extra care with my oversized high‑end computer monitor, which I was worried about since it couldn’t be boxed properly. They stepped in right away and made sure it was safely moved. I made a mistake at the end of the move and Debo handled it with complete professionalism and kindness. I’d absolutely recommend this team.

Debo, Denzel, and Kennedy handled our move-out and on-site storage, and they were fantastic. All three were polite, careful, and clearly took pride in making sure our belongings were well taken care of throughout the process. Nothing felt rushed, they treated our stuff like it mattered. The office staff were also communicative and helpful from start to finish, which made the whole experience low-stress. We'll be updating this review once our items are moved in, but based on the move-out and storage experience alone, we'd highly recommend this team. Honestly, it was the first move I've had that wasn't stressful.

Incredible moving team: respectful, punctual, very friendly and they took great care with all of our things. We had a lot of antiques and china and nothing was broken. I highly recommend them, they made our move very easy and pleasant.

This is our second time using Mile Above and we couldn't be happier with the service, the movers arrived promptly and were very friendly, I loved that the front office would reached out to let me know the truck was on the way and also checked in during the move to make sure everything was going smoothly. I really don't like moving, but having this high level of customer service makes the whole process a lot easier!
