1. Purpose and scope

This Privacy Policy explains how MovingWaldo Inc. (“MovingWaldo”, “we”, “us” or “our”) collects, uses, discloses, retains and protects personal information when you visit movingwaldo.com, use its static tools, or submit a form on the website (collectively, the “Website”).

MovingWaldo’s core service is its marketplace for moving services. The marketplace is a separate transactional platform available at booking.movingwaldo.com. Information you provide on that platform is governed by the marketplace Privacy Policy and Terms of Use, not this Privacy Policy.

2. The Website and static tools

The Website is primarily an informational, educational and lead-generation website. It does not require a customer account and does not store a moving profile or dashboard.

Some static tools may save your progress or preferences locally in your browser. Unless the tool clearly includes a submission feature, information entered into such a tool stays on your device and is not sent to MovingWaldo. You can remove locally saved information using the controls offered by the tool, by clearing your browser data, or by changing your browser settings.

If a link or call to action takes you to the marketplace, the marketplace policies identified above apply from the time you use that platform.

3. Discontinued services and historical information

As of September 1, 2026, MovingWaldo has discontinued its moving dashboard, transactional change-of-address service and Internet finder service. They have been replaced on the Website by static, informational tools that do not submit requests to third parties unless this is clearly stated at the time you use a form.

Historical records associated with the discontinued moving dashboard and change-of-address service will be securely deleted no later than December 31, 2026. A customer may ask us to delete their records earlier by contacting our Privacy Officer, subject to any limited retention required by law.

Before these services were discontinued, MovingWaldo disclosed personal information only as needed to carry out a service requested by the customer. For example, when a customer requested a change of address, the necessary information was sent to the organizations selected by that customer.

4. Personal information we collect

The Website does not create customer accounts. We may collect personal information in the following limited circumstances:

Information you submit through a form: depending on the form, this may include your name, email address, telephone number, message, move details, service needs, company information, referral information, claim information, and documents or photos you choose to upload.
Communications with us: we collect the information you provide when you email us, respond to us, or otherwise contact our team.
Technical and usage information: our hosting, security or analytics tools may process information such as your IP address, browser and device type, referring page, pages viewed, approximate location, date and time of access, and diagnostic or security events.
Cookies and similar technologies: if enabled, we or our service providers may use necessary, preference, measurement or analytics cookies and similar technologies. Where required, optional cookies will be used only after you have made the relevant choice. You can also manage cookies through your browser or any preference tool made available on the Website.

Please do not submit information that is not reasonably necessary for your request.

5. How we use personal information

We use personal information only for identified and legitimate purposes, including to:

respond to questions, requests, claims or partnership inquiries;
provide information or assistance that you request;
process and route a quote, referral or service request when you ask us to do so;
operate, secure, troubleshoot and improve the Website and its forms;
measure Website use and performance if analytics are enabled;
prevent fraud, misuse and security incidents;
maintain appropriate business and legal records; and
comply with legal obligations and enforce our rights.

If we need to use your personal information for a materially different purpose, we will obtain consent when required by law.

We generally collect personal information directly from you and with your consent. Your consent may be express or implied, depending on the sensitivity of the information and the circumstances. If a form is optional, you may choose not to submit it. However, we may be unable to respond to or fulfill a request without the information identified as necessary.

You may withdraw consent to a non-essential use or disclosure by contacting our Privacy Officer. Withdrawal will apply going forward and may be subject to legal or contractual restrictions and reasonable notice. It will not affect processing that was already lawful.

7. When we disclose personal information

MovingWaldo does not sell or rent personal information. We do not disclose it to third parties for their own unrelated marketing purposes.

We may disclose personal information only as reasonably necessary:

To fulfill your request: for example, to send a quote or service request to a provider you asked us to involve. The discontinued change-of-address service similarly disclosed information to organizations selected by the customer.
To service providers working for us: such as providers of website hosting, form processing, file storage, security, communications or analytics. They may use the information only to provide services to MovingWaldo and must protect it appropriately.
For legal and safety reasons: when required or permitted by law, a court order or a lawful government request, or when reasonably necessary to detect fraud, investigate a security incident, protect rights and safety, or establish, exercise or defend a legal claim.
In a business transaction: as permitted by law in connection with a proposed or completed financing, reorganization, merger or sale of all or part of our business, subject to appropriate confidentiality and use restrictions.

When information is entered directly on the marketplace, the marketplace Privacy Policy governs its disclosure.

8. Retention and deletion

We retain personal information from Website forms and communications only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, to manage a request or claim, and to meet legal, accounting, security and recordkeeping requirements. The retention period varies according to the nature and sensitivity of the information and the reason it was collected.

When personal information is no longer required, we securely delete it or anonymize it in accordance with our retention practices and applicable law. The specific deadline for historical dashboard and change-of-address records is set out in section 3 above.

Information saved locally by a static tool remains under your control in your browser and is not part of MovingWaldo’s records.

9. Security and privacy incidents

We use reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards appropriate to the nature and sensitivity of the personal information we handle. Access is limited to people and service providers who need the information for an authorized purpose.

No system is completely secure. If a privacy incident creates a risk of serious injury, we will notify affected individuals and the appropriate authorities as required by law.

10. Processing outside Quebec

Some service providers may process or store personal information outside Quebec or outside Canada. In that case, the information may be subject to the laws of the place where it is processed. Before entrusting personal information outside Quebec, MovingWaldo assesses the relevant privacy factors and uses contractual or other safeguards as required by applicable law.

11. Your privacy rights

Subject to applicable law, you may ask to:

access the personal information we hold about you;
correct inaccurate or incomplete information;
withdraw consent where processing depends on consent;
obtain eligible computerized personal information in a structured, commonly used technological format, or have it sent to an authorized person or organization;
request deletion or anonymization when the information is no longer required, subject to lawful retention requirements; and
ask questions or make a complaint about our privacy practices.

We may need to verify your identity before responding. To exercise a right, contact our Privacy Officer using the details below. You may also file a complaint with the Commission d’accès à l’information du Québec or another privacy regulator with jurisdiction.

12. Children

The Website is not directed to children under 14, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information without the consent required by law. If you believe a child has submitted personal information improperly, please contact our Privacy Officer.

13. Third-party websites

The Website contains links to websites and services operated by third parties, including the MovingWaldo marketplace. Their privacy practices and content are governed by their own policies. We encourage you to read those policies before providing personal information.

14. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes to the Website, our practices or legal requirements. We will post the revised policy on this page and update the date above. We will provide additional notice or obtain consent if required by law.
