MovingWaldo is a technology company that specializes in simplifying the moving process for individuals and families. Our comprehensive suite of services includes booking trustworthy movers, comparing internet plans, and automating administrative tasks, which can save users hours of paperwork.

MovingWaldo is a completely free website that provides information on various moving companies. We are proud to say that our reviews are not sponsored, and we have independently evaluated all the companies that we recommend. However, we do generate revenue through our partnerships with these companies. Rest assured, these partnerships do not influence the integrity and the transparency of our recommendations in any way. 

Absolutely – MovingWaldo is legit! The company was established in 2015 in Montreal, Canada as part of District 3 Innovation Center, affiliated to Concordia University.

In May 2017, the founders were seen on the Canadian show Dragon’s Den (Shark Tank in the USA) and supported by many reliable news media sources such as Huffington Post and CTV News. MovingWaldo has hundreds of customer reviews on Google and Facebook

MovingWaldo is easy to use even without creating an account. You can browse our many useful moving guides and checklists. Among other things, creating a free account will unlock our top features like booking professional movers, changing your address or tracking the progress of your moving tasks, just to name a few.

MovingWaldo’s platform is currently available across Canada and the United States. While we wish to help as many people as possible, some services may not be available in your area yet. Stay tuned!

MovingWaldo is a web application, meaning that you can access it from any web browser and on any device. There are no applications to download on the App Store or Google Play Store.

Movers Booking Service

Our Movers Booking Service pairs you with a free booking agent who reviews multiple Waldo Verified moving quotes on your behalf. Your agent will present you with your best options based on your move criteria. The quotes are calculated across the same metrics for a straightforward comparison, so you can choose and book your move with confidence.

We calculate the moving quotes based on a few factors: the distance between your old and new address, the hourly cost of labor, the total relocation time, and possible special item fees (bulky or highly valuable items). 

Some companies have additional truck fees or include the distance from their warehouse to your residences, which will also be included in the cost. Moving quotes are only estimates based on average move duration; your final cost may vary if your overall move took longer than projected. 

MovingWaldo is not a moving company, but a specialized moving platform representing a network of professional movers and service providers. Only trustworthy and verified moving companies are invited to join our network. Our verification process provides comfort over their professionalism and reliability.

Prior to your move, your booking agent will collect key information about your move, including an exhaustive list of your home inventory. Your agent will then calculate and review multiple quotes from Waldo Verified professional movers on your behalf. Once you made your choice, your booking agent will coordinate with the movers to book your move.

After your move, they will guide you through using the many additional moving resources on the platform, finalizing payment, and speaking to your mover on your behalf.

Fill out a quick moving form detailing your current and upcoming residence. Once you submit your form, you’ll automatically be assigned a booking agent to your move, who will begin processing your moving information in order to match you with your ideal moving company.

Your booking agent can be part of your searching experience. Let us know what you’re looking for in a professional mover, where you are relocating to, and what, if any, special accommodations you require for your move. They’ll present you with their findings to help you make the most informed decision. 

If you cannot find the company you are looking for on MovingWaldo, it is likely because they did not pass our preliminary verification, or they have not yet joined our network. 

Our preliminary verification considers factors such as accreditations, client reviews, years of experience, professionalism, and overall positive online presence.

We are always open to your suggestions. If you know a trustworthy moving company, don’t hesitate to contact us about it.

Moving company verification and screening

Moving companies first go through a preliminary verification process that considers factors such as accreditations, client reviews, years of experience, professionalism, and overall positive online presence.

After the company passes the preliminary verification, to become Waldo Verified, we sit down with the owner to discuss their experience, credentials, and credibility. Only incorporated and trustworthy companies are Waldo Verified.

We also review their insurance certificates. Waldo Verified moving companies must carry a minimum of $1 million in liability insurance, as well as legal cargo protection.

Only Waldo Verified companies undergo an interview process in which we sit down with the owner to discuss their experience, credentials, and credibility. In order to become Waldo Verified, the company must show proof of insurance. 

Moving companies that do not go through an interview process pass a preliminary verification that considers accreditations, client reviews, years of experience, professionalism, and overall positive online presence.

You can tell that a moving company has been Waldo Verified when they have the Waldo Verified mention. For example:

If the moving company has not gone through the Waldo Verified verification process, it has gone through our preliminary verification process. It considers factors such as accreditations, client reviews, years of experience, professionalism, and overall positive online presence.

To become Waldo Verified, we sit down with the owner to discuss their experience, credentials, and credibility. Only incorporated and trustworthy companies are Waldo Verified. 

We also consider their insurance certificates. Waldo Verified moving companies must carry a minimum of $1 million in liability insurance, as well as legal cargo protection.

Becoming Waldo Verified is a voluntary process for our network partners. The fact that a network partner is not Waldo Verified does not mean that they are not incorporated, experienced, and fully insured. It means that the partner did not go through the extensive Waldo Verified process.

It is customary for moving companies that are not Waldo Verified to undertake the preliminary verification process. This process considers factors such as accreditations, client reviews, years of experience, professionalism, and overall positive online presence. 

Hiring a moving company that is not Waldo Verified is entirely up to you, but make sure to ask the company questions about their incorporation and insurance certificates before hiring them.

It is possible that there are no booking agents available in your region. If this is the case, know that the movers listed in your area have already gone through our preliminary verification process, and you will need to contact them directly.

You have a guarantee that a moving company is licensed and insured when they have the Waldo Verified mention. Otherwise, you should ask moving companies about their incorporation and insurance certificate by yourself.

Other service providers like telecom or insurance corporations are not Waldo Verified, but do go through our preliminary verification process that considers factors like client reviews, years of experience, professionalism, accreditations, and overall positive online presence. 

The moving industry is highly unregulated, making it difficult to trust moving companies with your cherished household possessions. This is why a thorough verification process like Waldo Verified is crucial for moving companies. We already have done the due diligence for you.

Address change service

You can use MovingWaldo’s Change of Address Service by simply entering your estimated moving date, your current and new address, and your contact information here. The service will then allow you to notify over 1000 private and public organizations in a few clicks!

You can select the organizations you wish to notify of your new address, and we will transfer your moving form on your behalf.

The service is currently available in Canada only.

MovingWaldo’s address change service is currently only available in Canada. We’re actively working to bring our address change service to the United States in the future. Stay tuned for updates on this important development.

While the address change service is not available in the United States, MovingWaldo offers many useful resources like this change of address checklists for Americans. 

There are over 1000 companies and organizations available on our address change service. We can notify organizations such as governmental agencies, financial institutions, insurance carriers, telecom providers, newspapers and magazines, charities, rewards programs, and even more! 

We recommend changing your address 3 to 4 weeks before you move. In your form, you will indicate the effective date of your move. This information will be transferred to the companies you wish to inform of your new address. 

To use change your address, you will need:

  • Your name and contact information;
  • Your old and new address;
  • The date of your move (approximate).

Some service providers will require additional information, which you should know by heart or easily find in your wallet (example: type of vehicle insured). This information allows organizations to find your records, and it can also act as identification questions.

We are always open for suggestions of new organizations and companies to add to the platform. You can contact us with suggestions here.

Updating your address with certain organizations, such as banks or government agencies, may require sharing highly sensitive information such as your social insurance number. It is why they may be listed as “Do it yourself (DIY)”.

In such cases, you will need to contact them directly for confidentiality reasons. However, we’re here to help! We will conveniently guide you through the procedure and redirect you to the appropriate resources to ensure a seamless and secure transition. 

After selecting the companies and organizations, you can always go back to the Change of Address service page, and you will see the organizations notified at the top of the page. In addition, you will receive a confirmation email from MovingWaldo that we have notified the companies and organizations on your behalf. 

As a safety measure, each person who wishes to change their address on the platform must create a unique account. A valid and different email address is also required for each account.

First, you will receive an email confirming that MovingWaldo has received your requests. Then, MovingWaldo will send your address changes to the service providers you have selected, so they can update your record. Generally, we ask to allow the service providers up to 10 working days to complete the change in your account.

Some companies and organizations send confirmation. It depends on their internal policy. If you have not received a confirmation within 10 days of your request, we recommend that you confirm directly with your service providers.

Rest assured, MovingWaldo does not ask for your social insurance number (SIN) or bank account numbers. MovingWaldo simply requires your full name and date of birth so that your service providers can identify you. You will also have to enter some information about your move (old and new address, approximate date of your move).

Internet plan comparator

At MovingWaldo, we follow a thorough process for selecting internet providers to ensure that our customers receive reliable and high-quality internet services.

First, we verify that the ISPs listed on our website are recognized by the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC).

We then verify the availability of internet plans at your address using our Telecom Module, which allows you to search by postal code.

To ensure that we always offer the most up-to-date packages available, we conduct regular audits of ISPs’ websites.

Additionally, we monitor new promotions and negotiate exclusive offers on your behalf that are available to you by following links from our website.

Internet plans are updated weekly by our experts to ensure you get the accurate pricing information. These offers are subject to the availability of services at your address. Pricing is subject to change.

MovingWaldo audits Internet service providers’ websites and offers to break down the best options for you. We list 3 to 5 popular plans per company to avoid choice overload. We mainly select Internet plans based on speed, with a preference for plans that are common in the typical household (between 30 Mbps and 100 Mbps)

Likewise, we also consider Internet plans that can be bundled with other services and select the best options based on price and the number of channels and themes. 

Some providers may offer only very high or very low Internet speeds (uncommon for the typical household), limiting the number of plans displayed. Therefore, we only recommend the most suitable options for the typical household on our website. You can visit the providers’ websites to browse plans that may be better suited for your needs.

MovingWaldo helps connect customers who are moving to new homes with our Internet network partners. In some instances, we have the ability to negotiate exclusive offers on your behalf, allowing you to save money when subscribing to our partners’ services. Any exclusive offers available are clearly highlighted in our Telecom module. Please note that not all Internet partners are able to provide exclusive deals.

If it still does not work, you can contact us with the following information:

  • The email address you are trying to create an account with;
  • The date of the attempt; 
  • The device you used (computer, tablet, phone, etc.);
  • The reason for your message.

You can update your information from your MovingWaldo Profile in the drop-down menu. You can then resend your change of address.

It will be important to confirm with the companies that the correct address is in your file the next time you contact them.

Signing is important because it certifies to each company that you have indeed requested the address change. It is essential to reproduce your signature as much as possible! You can do it with your mouse, or with your finger if you are on your phone or your tablet.

When you enter your address, we use the Google Map system to recognize it. That said, sometimes the address is not recognized. In this situation, you will see that the address does not seem to register. Do not worry, it is always possible to fill each field manually!

If you enter the information in each field manually and the problem persists, it is possible that the problem is rather from your browser. Unfortunately, some are more problematic than others. In this case, you can always log off and log on again, or try it on another browser. We recommend using Google Chrome!

Security and account management

There are 2 ways to change your password on MovingWaldo.

How to change your password if you forgot it:

  1. Go to the Forgot Password page and enter your email address. 
  2. A change password request will be sent to your email address.
  3. After clicking on the “Change my password” button in your email, you will be redirected to a page where you can enter your new password. 

 

How to change your password from your account:

  1. Go to MovingWaldo.com and log into your account.
  2. Click on your profile icon in the upper right corner.
  3. Select “My account” from the drop-down menu.
  4. Choose the “Security and privacy” option on the left. 
  5. Click the “Change my password” button.
  6. Enter your current password and your new password.
  7. Click the “Save” button.

 

Your password is now updated!
