When should I notify EDF of my move?

When planning to move to a new address, it is recommended to notify EDF up to 14 days before your move. Otherwise, make sure you let them know within 30 days of being at your new address so EDF can transfer your new contract and supply your new property in time. You will also need your closing meter readings.


How to change your address with EDF

  • Visit the EDF official website
  • Click on “My Account
  • Log in to your online account
  • Select “Update your details
  • Enter your new address

Option #2: On the mobile app:

  • Log into your EDF account 
  • Go to “Update your details
  • Enter your new address

You can also contact EDF by calling their phone numbers. The customer assistant will ask you some questions to proceed with your change of address.

Once I change my address with EDF, when will the changes take place?

Once you change your address with EDF, here is when the changes will take place:

  • If you decide to switch after your 14-day “cooling off period”: The changing process should be completed within five working days after the 14-day cooling off period has ended. (“Cooling off period” begins on the day after your EDF contract is signed)
  • If you decide to switch within your 14-day “cooling off period”: It should take you no more than five working days to change your billing and supply details to a new address.

What time does EDF open & close?

EDF’s opening & closing hours are as follows:

  • Monday to Friday: 8:00 am to 6:00 pm
  • Saturday: 8:00 am to 2:00 pm
  • Sunday: Closed

Timings that are best for calling:

  • Monday: It is best to contact EDF during the afternoon, as Monday is EDF’s busiest day.
  • Tuesday to Friday: From 8:00 am to 11:00 am and from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm
  • Saturday: From 8:00 am to 11:00 am
  • Sunday: Closed

To find out who supplies your home in terms of gas and electricity, follow the steps below:

To find your Gas Supplier: 

  • Use this online tool
  • Enter your postcode and the first line of your address 

To find your electricity supplier, you need to find your network operator:

  • Click here to find your network operator 
  • Enter your postcode and the first line of your address
  • You will get the name of your network provider.
  • Contact your network operator directly to know your electricity supplier

How to cancel EDF Energy?

If you want to cancel EDF energy then you simply need to switch to another energy provider. As a result, your contract with EDF will be automatically cancelled. Please remember that you may be charged an exit fee depending on your tariff. This doesn’t apply if you cancel within the first 14 days of signing up or if your tariff has 3 months or less remaining. Alternatively, you can cancel EDF Energy over the phone by calling 0333 200 5100.
