Why this company is recommended by our experts
Let’s Get Moving was founded in Toronto in 2014 before expanding to Vancouver in the end of 2021. Tiam, the owner, assigned a mission to Kayden, their top performing operation manager. Kayden moved from Toronto to Vancouver, bringing with him nine years of experience the company had acquired in the Queen City.
We examined the company and were impressed. It had 4.8 stars with 2,000 reviews nationally on February 24th. It also had various accreditations, such as CAM. We were also captivated by its capacity to accommodate last-minute moves.
Let’s Get Moving handles it all: small moves (3 hours min.), larger residential moves using their 26 ft moving trucks based in Burnaby, along with office and commercial moves. They offer assistance for up to 500 km, including Vancouver to Kelowna.

Why this company is recommended by our experts
We felt trust towards Ferguson Moving & Storage (FMS) even before speaking with Lorne MacInnes, the owner for the past 22 years. This was due to the company’s long history as one of the oldest moving company in Canada. Their moving experience and knowledge of the Greater Vancouver are unparalleled. Years later, we still recommend FMS to anyone looking for full service movers with a solid track record.
FMS offers a flat rate pricing which is common for white glove service moving. Beside being easier to budget, a flat rate gives you peace of mind on moving day. In March 2023, FMS opened a new office on Vancouver Island. This makes them a great choice for anyone looking to move from Vancouver to Victoria.
Do not contact them for a single item delivery. This is especially true when it involves a hot tub move, as they do not provide this service.

Other authorities in the Canadian Moving industry
What’s the BBB?
BBB stands for Better Business Bureau and is a North American organization whose mission is to help buyers and sellers trust each other. Its rating is based on the number of complaints that a company may receive and how the company handles these complaints. We aim to recommend companies with a minimum rating of A- or higher.
What’s CAM?
CAM stands for Canadian Association of Movers. It’s Canada’s only trade association for movers whose goal is to help its members evolve in the industry, while setting a standard of ethics and practices for moving companies. While it is a great way to gain credibility, not all moving companies are part of CAM.
Conclusion
The companies listed above provide coverage in some of the most popular areas in British Columbia. These areas include North Vancouver, White Rock, and Fraser Valley. Coverage is also available in any other area of the province.
Finding a cheap moving company in Vancouver can be difficult. This is true for both local and long distance moves. We are strong advocate of saving by comparing at least three to five quotes.

Frequently asked questions
Hourly pricing is the most commonly used pricing model in Vancouver. It’s simple, the company will provide you with an hourly rate and charge you based on the time it took to complete your move. They’ll also provide you with an estimated labor time, so they can precisely estimate the final cost.
Flat rate pricing is uncommon for local moves in general, yet some companies in Vancouver like FlatRate Moving do employ it. It is common for large white glove moves or for long-distance moves. To provide a flat rate for your move, the company will need to precisely assess various aspects, including:
- A detailed inventory list to precisely estimate the weight of your items.
- How they will access your home.
- Detailed information about special, unique items that need to be disassembled and reassembled.
- Information about traffic conditions to and from your locations.
On top of it all, they need to think of everything that could turn sideways on moving day, which leads them to adding a contingency in the quote. All of the above factors cause flat priced moves to typically be more expensive than hourly priced moves.
There are two types of moving insurance protections: release value protection and full value protection.
Release value protection covers the damages happening in the moving truck and can cover $0.60 per pound of the damaged item. The cost is typically included in the price and there is no deductible.
Whereas, full value protection applies to damage done in the moving truck and in your home. This can cover anywhere between $5 to $10 per pound of the damaged item. Expect to pay at least a few hundred dollars for full value protection and know that there is a deductible and that it will vary.
All moving companies in Vancouver have diverse fee-related policies. Generally, packing and unloading specialty items will be an added cost to your moving bill for their fragility (extra protection required), weight (more workers required), and extra space they may take up in the truck (additional truck required).
The moving company may charge extra fees for heavy items like sports equipment and appliances. Extra stair fees (above 2nd floor) and overnight or storage fees (if the move was not completed in one day), may be charged. Also, fuel fees could apply, especially for longer distances.
In Vancouver, moving trucks are permitted to park in the streets as long as they are parked in valid parking spots and that the items are being either loaded or unloaded from them.
Without a valid parking spot, you will need to apply for a temporary parking permit that is allocated for a maximum of 3 consecutive days.
If a commercial vehicle is being parked in the street, it can be parked in a commercial vehicle loading zone for a maximum of 2 hours.
Note that movers will usually take care of booking a parking permit for you. It is recommended that you discuss this with them as soon as possible to avoid potential fines.
