When should I change my address with Desjardins ?

Properly plan your changes of address! It is important to notify your financial institution of your move as soon as possible to ensure an adequate and safe transition to your new home.

To ensure you will receive your statements to your new home address, we recommend that you register your change of address with Desjardins no later than the last business day of the month preceding your move.

For example, if you move on July 4th, your change of address request should be made by June 30th.

No check order can be made within 60 days of the date your change of address takes effect.

Desjardins Caisse member

There are four ways to complete your changes of address as a Desjardins Caisse member.

Step 1 (From AccèsD): Log on to your AccèsD account.

Step 2: On the Overview page, click on the Options button below the Accounts section. It is on the right of your card. Then, click on Change contact information below Profile.

Step 3: Click on Modify.

Step 4: Enter your new address.

Credit cards Desjardins or prepaid cards

Change your Visa or Mastercard Desjardins credit card address online in four steps.

There are three (3) ways to complete your changes of address with your Desjardins Visa card or Mastercard.

Step 1 (From AccèsD): Log on to your AccèsD account.

Step 2: On the Overview page, click on Options, next to the correct credit or prepaid card. Then, click on Manage this account.

Step 3: Click on Change your address under the Account management section.

Step 4: Fill in the Permanent address section with your new address at the bottom of the page.

Car and Home Insurance – Desjardins General Insurance

Change your address online with Desjardins General Insurance via the express Change of Address form, in three (3) steps or by calling 1 800 567-2423.

Time: 20 minutes

Step 1: Visit the Desjardins General Insurance website.

Step 2: Click on Manage your insurance below What do you want to do? Then, click on Change of address.

Step 3: Sign into your account.

Step 4: Complete the online change of address form.

What you need to know!

Your new address may affect your insurance coverage. By answering the questions in the online form, your insurer will be able to evaluate your needs. An agent may need to contact you by phone if additional information is needed to adjust your insurance premium.

Aside from the standard information (first and last name, Date of Birth, Phone number, Current address, New address, etc), you will need to answer some specific questions to your profile.

For Auto Insurance

Will your move result in a change in the annual mileage or usage of your vehicle?
Will there be driver changes to your insurance policy (add or remove a driver, change the name of the main driver, etc.)?

For Home Insurance

If you are a homeowner, no specific question will be asked in the for; a representative will contact you to take care of the necessary updates.

If you are a tenant, be prepared to answer the following questions.

How many apartments are there in the building?
Which floor will you stay on?
What is the main source of heating?
Is there another source of heating?
Is there a commercial space in the building (shop, hairdresser, etc.)?
Is the building located less than 8 km (5 miles) from a fire station?
Is the building located within 300 meters (1,000 feet) of a fire hydrant?
Will you store goods at another address (warehouse, other residence, etc.)?
Will you operate a paid activity at your home (self-employed, home office, etc.)?
Has your family situation changed (separation, new spouse, foster family, etc.)?

If you are a condominium owner, no specific questions will be asked in the form; a representative will contact you to take care of the necessary updates.

Disnat – Online Brokerage

As mentioned earlier, the complexity in the change of address process with Desjardins is the decentralization of its different departments. In other words, the departments within the financial institution do not all communicate profile updates with each other.
