How do I pay for my moving expenses?

  1. Moving is not free! It takes time, energy, and most importantly, money!

Here are a few things you can do to help reduce the cost of your move:

    • Take the time to save up. This may mean delaying your move for some time, but if it allows for a complete move, then do it.
    • Sell some of the things you don’t need on Kijiji, Marketplace, or Craigslist.
    • Claim moving expenses from the government if you are moving within Canada. Fill a T1-M Form to cover a deduction of moving expenses which you will be eligible to receive later.
    • Check if you’re eligible for any grants
    • Consider the pros and cons of taking a personal loan to help cover your moving expenses.
